Colours of Grief

A Drawing Workshop with Ronja Pelz and Birka Steinmetz

1 August, 4 to 8 p.m., at the Museum for Sepulchral Culture, Weinbergstraße 25-27

In our previous workshops on the wind telephone, participants often chose motifs of commemoration for their artistic exploration. In this workshop, we want to try to focus more on personal grief. Jessica and Birka invite us to listen inwards and feel where the grief is anchored in the body or in our own perception. The creative process with charcoal and colour creates a space in which we can gently encounter our emotions without repressing or judging them. Instead, this workshop is all about recognising our feelings with understanding and acceptance and perhaps developing a new, mindful relationship with ourselves through the artistic process.

You can register with Daniel and Gerrit at hallo@hier-im-quartier.de or via direct message on Instagram (@hierimquartier). The workshops are free of charge, they are subsidised by the city of Kassel.

Jessica Ronja Pelz studied illustration and comics at the Kunsthochschule Kassel and realises freelance artistic projects alongside her work as a media designer. With a preference for ink, she likes to incorporate the gentle and mystical nuances of life into her drawings.

Birka Steinmetz is studying to be a teacher of maths and art at the University of Kassel. In her work, she explores emotional work and her own body awareness. In her workshops, she invites people to sharpen their mindfulness and consciously recognise their own limits.
