The ensemble around the Swiss clarinetist Claudio Puntin combines improvisation and early music to a new dimension of sound. The sound of the lament has an important place in almost every musical tradition. The music created by people out of these conditions touches us in our innermost being. The quartet's instrumentation and way of making music are unexpected; here the most diverse musical experiences come together.
Based on some of the most impressive laments of the 17th century, the four musicians of the LAMENTO PROJECT shed new light on various states of mourning, sorrow and comfort. Claudio Puntin's clarinet becomes the touching lament voice.
Works of the old masters sound alongside his own compositions and improvisations – together a repertoire that carries the meditative intensity and power of transcendence. Earthy rhythmic to magically contemplative. Sounds that connect earth and sky.
The concert is accompanying the special exhibition LAMENTO – Trauer und Tränen.
