The Kuratorium Immateriales Erbe Friedhofskultur invites you to the digital salon ON THE FUTURE OF THE MUSEUM OF SEPULCHRAL CULTURE

A discussion on the status of the reorientation and the future of the museum with Dr Martin Venne, Chairman of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Friedhof und Denkmal, and Museum Director Dr Dirk Pörschmann.

The salon was originally planned for September, but could not take place due to illness. Anyone who had already registered for the salon in September does not need to register again and will automatically receive a new participation link.

Since 1992, the Museum of Sepulchral Culture in Kassel has been dedicated to the topics of dying, death, burial, mourning and remembrance. With a redesign of the permanent exhibition and renovation of the museum building, the museum is now being made fit for the future. In particular, the expansion of content is intended to contribute to continuing the dialogue about death with a pluralistic society.

Dr Martin Venne, chairman of the Cemetery and Monument Working Group, which runs the museum, and museum director Dirk Pörschmann provide insight into current developments and plans for the future of the museum.

Participation is free of charge. You will receive the link to join the Teams platform after registering.

The digital salon: a special discussion format

Half an hour of top-notch information after work: exciting, entertaining and free of charge. These are our digital salons on current topics related to the cultural space of the cemetery, which we offer several times a year in loose succession.

Each of our salons focuses on an exciting topic, for which we first invite an expert to join us for a conversation on our digital red sofa. We particularly want to talk to people who are not directly involved in the cemetery scene and who can offer an outside perspective on cemetery culture in Germany.

After a moderated discussion lasting approximately 20 minutes, all salon visitors will have the opportunity to join in the discussion. Afterwards, we look forward to an informal get-together on the salon grounds. With our salon format, we not only want to contribute to the discussion of exciting current topics. Above all, we want to facilitate informal get-togethers beyond the work environment.

The streamlined format is aimed at experts, stakeholders and personalities from the cemetery culture sector. The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 99 people to enable active participation in the discussion and personal exchange.

The event will be held in German.
