Gallery Festival 2020

The Museum for Sepulchral Culture is participating again!

Everything is different, including this year's gallery festival in Kassel's Südstadt.

Due to the current situation, a special format has been created, which mainly takes place outdoors. In public places, in the shop windows of the exhibition venues, as well as shops along the Frankfurter Strasse, art becomes visible and can be experienced. Thus the gallery festival offers visitors interesting and perhaps controversial insights and views of contemporary artistic positions.

This year, the exhibition venues are expanding and moving with the artists of the Gallery Festival into the city centre of Kassel, where they will perform on various art islands. The neighbouring museums, such as the Neue Galerie, the GRIMMWELT Kassel and the Museum for Sepulchral Culture are again involved as cooperation partners.

The partnershop is once again formed between the galleries and exhibition venues in the sothern quarter of the city (Südstadt), the neighbouring museums and many other cultural players. This special expression of cohesion is renewed and, especially this year, achieved by the driving force of art.

The gallery festival is organized and coordinated by "GGalerien der Kasseler Südstadt e.V.". The association is the interface between all participants, art and cultural creators, the city of Kassel, sponsors and other interacting persons.

Cooperation partners and supporters of the gallery festival 2020:

City of Kassel, Hessian Ministry for Science and Art, Kassel Marketing, LoPo Media, Kasseler Sparkasse, Sparkassen-Kulturstiftung Hessen-Thüringen, SV SparkassenVersicherung, Dr. Wolfgang Zippel-Stiftung, cdw Stiftung , Hübner Gmbh & Co. KG, Museumslandschaft Hessen Kassel – Neue Galerie, GRIMMWELT Kassel, Museum for Sepulchral Culture, Hotel Renthof Kassel, GALERIA Karstadt Kaufhof, Königs-Galerie Kassel

There will be no opening ceremony this year.

The exhibition "Come Down To Us" by Martin Maeller can be seen at the Museum for Sepulchral Culture within the opening hours.
