The aim of the International Museum Day is to draw attention to the thematic diversity of the more than 6,500 museums in Germany and worldwide and to invite visitors to discover them together. Established in 1977, Museum Day aims to give museums and their staff around the world the opportunity to highlight the importance of their work as a contribution to cultural and social life, while at the same time inviting and involving visitors to the various houses and institutions.
For this reason, International Museum Day will take place as a day of action on Sunday, May 15, 2022, when museums across Germany will offer a diverse program under the guiding principle #MuseenEntdecken.
