International symposium

Suizid – Let's talk about it!

"Suizid – Let's talk about it!" is the title and the mission of the current special exhibition and accompanying program at the Museum for Sepulchral Culture. In the weeks and months since the opening on September 10, 2021, numerous visitors have been able to experience the exhibition and events. Together with experts and artists, they have filled the prevailing shameful and fearful silence in society around suicide and suicidal experiences with open conversations, lectures and readings.

We would like to invite you to join us in reviewing the exchange of experiences and knowledge of the past months and to dare to look into the future. We would like to discuss with you how we can continue to live together and meet people or be among those who are entitled to support and openness, for example, through suicidality or experiences of loss after a suicide.

To this end, the symposium in cooperation with the University of Kassel will focus on different topics in three panels: "Suicide", "Relatives" and "Society". These topics will be accompanied by lectures of international scientists and panelists from different professional groups and voluntary work. The audience is invited not only to be an audience, but also to be an interlocutor and to actively participate in all the discussions of the day.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we have decided to hold the symposium online. However, besides the disadvantages of a lack of physical presence, the virtual format offers the opportunity to provide access to a more numerous and international audience.

We look forward to welcoming numerous guests!
