with Andreas Kossert
Andreas Kossert, renowned expert on the subject of flight and expulsion in the 20th century and author of the bestseller "Cold Homeland," places the flight movement of the early 21st century in a large historical context in his new book. Always close to the individual fates and in a moving way, Kossert shows the existential experiences of uprooting and hostility that go hand in hand with the loss of one's homeland – and why it has always been so difficult for refugees, fugitives and displaced persons to put down new roots in a foreign land. Whether they fled from East Prussia, Syria or India: refugees are actors in world history – Andreas Kossert gives them a voice with this book.
Nominated for the German Nonfiction Book Prize 2021, awarded the NDR Kultur Nonfiction Book Prize 2020 and the Prize for "The Political Book" 2021 of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
