Lecture & talk with Dr. Jürgen Mayer, Kasseler Hospital e. V.
Under the stresses of advanced age or progressive illness, the sense of dignity and meaning of one's own life can suffer. But how can dignity, respect and appreciation be preserved in the last phase of dying? This is a task for family, caregivers and professionals in nursing and hospice work!
In particular, the appreciative review of the life lived, e.g. with a "life mirror", can be a help here. Using guiding questions, such as "What have you learned about life that you would like to pass on to others? Are there certain memories you want to share with your family? What are your hopes and dreams for your loved ones?" can reinforce a sense of dignity and appreciation for the life you have lived.
