Ugo Dossi
Danse Macabre,
Video
2007
Ugo Dossi (* 1943) was a participant in documenta 6 and documenta 8. His artistic concern is to make the invisible and thus also death visible. To this end, he uses methods of depth psychology, which he combines with artistic techniques. This approach connects him with scientists.
Through the method of automatic drawing, Ugo Dossi attempts to tap into the pictorial language of the unconscious. The pictograms developed from this context are symbols of collective longings, desires and fears. "Eternal Recurrence – Danse Macabre" is Ugo Dossi's first video project based exclusively on subliminal image and sound elements. The projected faces of death and forms of the soul also appear in part in the tomb that Ugo Dossi erected in 2003 in the artist's necropolis.
The video can be viewed in the exhibition on request. Just let us know at the museum gate when you visit!
