Large Encyclopaedia on Funeral and Cemetery Culture
The five-volume encyclopaedia is thematically oriented and self-contained from A to Z. Numerous authors have contributed to this project, creating the first and only comprehensive standard work on sepulchral culture of this kind.
Volume 1 deals with folklore and cultural history. Volume 2 is especially dedicated to archaeology and art history. Volume 3 contains the practical and current part. Volume 4 is the media cultural part; Volume 5 deals with personalities who have or had special achievements in the field of sepulchral culture. With its numerous cross-references, the lexicon is suitable for an exciting research, the literature references allow a quick, in-depth introduction. It is indispensable for those who are interested in funeral, cemetery and mourning culture.
The encyclopaedia is available in German language only.
Working Group for Basic Research
In addition to basic research, the working group is concerned with the publication of research results of the Central Institute.
In 2016, it formed the so-called "Lexicon Group", which compiled the "Large Encyclopaedia of Funeral and Cemetery Culture".
The lexicon was completed in 2020.
