Research on death, burial, mourning and remembrance

The museum's scientific team supervises publication and dissertation projects, among other things. Here we present research projects of external scientists who work in or with our house.

 

Memory and Death

Researcher in Residence: Lorenz Widmaier

Lorenz Widmaier was a visiting researcher at the Museum for Sepulchral Culture in spring 2020. He is doing his doctorate on the subject of mourning in the digital age at the Cyprus University of Technology. His research fellowship is part of the European Training Network H2020 POEM (poem-horizon.eu).

For his research project, he conducted numerous interviews in and outside the museum with people who inherited a digital legacy.

In autum 2020 he contributed four positions on digital practices of mourning and remembrance as well as a brochure on the desired handling of the digital legacy for the special exhibition MEMENTO – In the Force Field of Memories.
