Funeral practice and a customer-oriented approach to relatives

The "cemetery" workplace presents its employees with special challenges. In addition to professional knowledge, contact with people in mourning requires the ability to provide orientation and to respond appropriately to the needs of customers.

Topics of the seminar are: practical questions in the course of a funeral, the role of the employees in customer contact, basic rules of conversation, understanding mourning processes, types of funerals and their effect on mourning, meeting objections and mastering crises, dealing with cultural and religious peculiarities, cooperation with morticians, priests and speakers as well as dealing with one's own stress.

Theory and practice are combined through role play and practical exercises based on a mock urn burial.

The seminar is aimed at cemetery employees who work in the mourning hall service and as porters. It is also intended for cemetery caretakers who are responsible for advising on the allocation of graves or for accompanying relatives in the farewell rooms of the cemetery.
