Cemetery employees who work in the mourning hall service and as porters; cemetery managers whose area of responsibility is counselling on the allocation of graves or accompanying relatives in the cemetery's farewell rooms.
Learn about the needs of mourners with Birgit A. Janetzky, an experienced theologian and coach, and find out how this knowledge can be applied in your own day-to-day work.
Working in a cemetery presents its employees with particular challenges. Contact with bereaved people requires not only professional knowledge but also the ability to provide guidance and respond appropriately to customers' needs.
Topics covered in the seminar include: practical questions relating to the funeral process, the role of employees in customer contact, basic rules of conversation, understanding the grieving process, types of funerals and their impact on grief, dealing with objections and overcoming crises,
dealing with cultural and religious particularities, cooperation with funeral directors, pastors and speakers, and dealing with one's own stress. Theory and practice are combined through role-playing and practical exercises based on a simulated urn burial.
Birgit Aurelia Janetzky has a degree in theology and works as a funeral speaker.
