Design of communal graves in cemeteries

Over the last two decades, various concepts of communal graves have developed in cemeteries. These include different types of themed graves, cemeteries for specific social groups, various offers that are particularly practical in terms of a cost-benefit calculation, and cemeteries of commercial providers. It is the concern of the cemetery administrations to guarantee the quality of the respective facility in the long term. In view of this goal, a number of legal aspects have to be considered.
In the seminar, the advantages and different acceptances of communal grave sites at the main cemetery in Kassel will be illustrated and discussed with the participants on site with regard to social, economic, ecological, aesthetic-design and legal aspects.

Since the attention in front of the screen usually sinks faster than in personal contact, the seminar is spread over four mornings. In the individual seminar units, the participants will have the opportunity to present their own work as well as sufficient space for questions and discussions. In addition, on the evening of the first day of the event, there will be an opportunity to get to know the Museum für Sepulkralkultur and the special exhibition "MEMENTO – Im Kraftfeld der Erinnerungen" (MEMENTO – In the Force Field of Memories) as part of a digital tour.–

The seminar is aimed at heads of cemetery offices, cemetery staff from the cemetery, stonemasons, cemetery gardeners, undertakers, people interested in the design of gravestones.

Maximum number of participants: 10 persons

The online seminar takes place via the tool "Webex". Requirements are PC or laptop with camera and microphone. You will receive the access link one day before the seminar.
