Museum of Sepulchral Culture
in Kassel

Death is part of it.

The Museum for Sepulchral Culture in Kassel is dedicated to death, mourning, burial, and the culture of remembrance – topics that affect everyone. Exhibitions, events, research, and educational programs offer new perspectives on farewells, remembrance, and coping with the end of life. Supported by the Central Institute and Museum for Sepulchral Culture and the Working Group for Cemeteries and Monuments, the museum combines museum work, scholarship, outreach, and community involvement in a location unique in Germany.

Where to put the dog? (4.0 in between)

Update 4.0 of the ongoing special exhibition "In Between: You, Life, and Mortality." The number of legs doesn't affect the intensity of the pain of loss. Would you bury your pet? How do you remember them? And what does the death of a person do to their animal companion? In one section of "In Between 4.0," we explore the human-animal relationship—in life and in death. Learn about the relationships that shape humans and animals during their lifetimes and discover how you can shape your farewell.
