2014

Although there is much discussion about multicultural society these days, it is far from common knowledge that the different cultures are now reflected in their own funeral and cemetery systems.

For years, museums and educational institutions have been discussing how to better and more effectively reach people with a migration background. For a museum dedicated to the culture of death and mourning, this means presenting not only its own, primarily historically rooted, burial culture, but also customs and traditions that are initially unfamiliar to this country. Against this backdrop, the Museum of Sepulchral Culture expanded its permanent exhibition in 2014 to include a section showcasing multicultural burial practices, whose diverse manifestations are reflected in this country's shift towards a multicultural society.
