From 24 February to 3 March 2018, the Brückner-Kühner Foundation and its partners organised the 8th Kassel Comedy Colloquium. The unique festival for the literature and science of comedy offered reading stage, spoken art, musical word cabaret, cartoon reading, language art exhibition, symposium, award ceremony.
The festival kicked off on 24 February at the Museum for Sepulchral Culture with an evening with Kirsten Fuchs, Jochen Schmidt, Michael Stauffer and Nora Gomringer. The public awarding of the "Kasseler Literaturpreis für grotesken Humor" to Eckhard Henscheid and the "Förderpreis Komische Literatur" to Dagmara Kraus in the town hall on 3 March brought the festival to a close.
The programme included a symposium on "Comedy and Culinary", a theme that also extended into the artistic events – e.g. the exhibition "Tupi, or not tupi" on anthropophagic poetry.
Further events were held with and-or, Barbara Auer, Arno Camenisch, Urs Engeler, Karen Duve, Zsuzsanna Gahse, Steffi Jüngling, Martin Lüker, Christian Maintz, Dalibor Markovi?, Jürgen O. Olbrich, POLO, Gerhard Polt & Well-Brüder, Carola Ruf, Oliver Maria Schmitt, Frank Schulz and Gregor Weichbrodt.
