Ulli Götte is a freelance composer, musician and musicologist in Kassel. Primary artistic fields of work: New music, non-European music and jazz. His main focus is on minimal music and Javanese gamelan music. He founded the International Minimal Music Festival series in 1997. Götte is also Artistic Director of the Gamelan Festival in Kassel since 2013. In 2017, Götte also founded the Zentrum für Interkulturelle Musik e. V. in Kassel. In his minimalist compositions Götte combines the idea of 'gradual process' (Reich) with different elements of European, African and American music. Almost always his music is polyphonic-multi-layered.
