Five years ago, the Bund Heimat und Umwelt ( Federation of Homeland and Environment) declared the historical cemetery a "cultural monument". The title draws attention to the historical cemetery as part of the cultural landscape. This importance of the cemetery can be easily understood by cemetery tours. The many symbols and allegories, against the background of the cemetery's ritual, geometrical or landscape design, and the romantic planting that has grown in the meantime, usually attract a lot of interest among cemetery visitors*. In this seminar there is a bit of everything: It deals with important symbols and allegories, e.g. angels, thanatos and mourners and some cemetery-typical plants as well as basic structures of the historical cemetery.
The seminar is aimed specifically at cemetery guides.
