Music is a particularly fleeting art form. Just sounded, it has already blown away. As a symbol of transience, it is therefore obvious to connect it with the theme of death and dying. It is astonishing, that the pop-cultural entertainment genre of rock music, which is primarily aimed at young people, deals with this topic in many ways. The exhibition THE SUN AIN'T GONNA SHINE ANYMORE, which has already been shown successfully in the rock'n'popmuseum Gronau, shows in which form this has taken place in the different styles.
From psychedelic rock of the 1960s to punk, death metal, gothic and hip hop, the exhibition traces the most important stages of rock history. The guiding principle of the project is the relationship between music genre, scene and youth movement on the one hand and the existential experience of death on the other. The exhibits make it clear that the spirit of the times, genre and style of music have each led to a very individual approach to the topic.
